It follows Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg as he sits down at his computer and begins working on a new idea for a social network that he calls Facebook. What begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. Six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history… but for his success leads to both personal and legal complications…

The film is loosely based on the book, “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal,” The book has been described as a “non-fictionish” account of the founding of Facebook, calls “The Social Network” the “story that Mark didn’t want told.” The book and movie tell the story of how Zuckerberg clashed with several former Harvard classmates about the company’s idea and ownership. They all claim that they developed or helped developed the code that Zuckerberg based Facebook on and either had their work stolen or their credit denied…
Zuckerberg sat down with Diane Sawyer to talk about his crazy college years and the film here’s what he had to say…
Some in Facebook’s inner circle are worried that the movie may paint Zuckerberg in a bad light, while other branding experts doubt that the movie will have an impact on Facebook or change the way its fiercely loyal audience uses the service. But what do you think? Would you still use Facebook if the guy behind it was a lying, cheating, mad man… would you trust his site with your updates, relationships and pics?
And finally I couldn’t let this week’s post pass without acknowledging the other 300 pound gorilla on the net, last week, Google began rolling out a new feature to users of its browser-based Gmail service that lets users make phone calls over the Internet directly from their computer. If you already use Gmail, all you need to do is click the “Call Phone” button in your chat sidebar which will bring up a dial pad for phone calls.
“Call Phone” will let you make calls from your Gmail account to any land line or cell phone. Google Voice will provide you with a Gmail phone number. And your Gmail account will serve as a personal assistant, automatically adding phone numbers to your email addresses, as well as saving call histories. However, You can’t call 911 so in case of emergency I’d reach for your cell phone. But If you do make a call from Gmail, a cool feature will allow you to transfer the call to another phone without disconnecting the other party if you gotta hit the road. Google says the domestic phone calls will remain free for at least this year… it’ll cost about 2 cents per minute to call other countries.
