Attention parents and (especially to You Daz because you said that your son is very computer literate).
Do you know who is spying on your child… In new documents filed in a suit against a Pennsylvania school district, lawyers allege that school technicians activated the embedded Web cam’s in school issued laptops and reportedly captured not just a couple but THOUSANDS of images of students at home…
Now this story has been building for some time now… When the story first broke in February, the district said the cameras were activated only handful of times when a laptop was reported stolen or missing. But sophomore Blake Robbins alleged that school officials reprimanded him for “improper behavior” based on photos the computer secretly took of the boy at home last fall. School officials accused the teen of dealing drugs when the web cams took pics of him reportedly holding Mike and Ike candy.
Thursday’s filing, which claims 400 images of Robbins were taken during a two-week period last fall, also says that an IT administrator at the district “voyeurs. Blake Robbins the teen at the center of the charges is now speaking out…
Lawyers suing the district are urging a federal judge presiding over the case to grant a forensic examination of administrator’s personal computer. The lawsuit seeks class-action status to represent all the district’s 2,300 high school students.
Here’s a story about one of the effects of the Iceland’s ash cloud that you may have missed…
The prime minister of Norway has been stuck in New York, since last week… Not to worry though… the PM just fired up his brand new iPad and has been running his country remotely. (Click here to hear Prime Minister Jen Stoltenberg rave about the iPad).
It’s not clear what Stoltenberg was doing on the iPad, though he described the device as “excellent.”
Clearly he wasn’t running any sort of special Norwegian government software because an app doesn’t exist for that just yet, nor was he doing more than one task at a time because the ability multitask doesn’t really drop until next fall. But this is just what Apple needed to hype its latest product. A photo of the PM running his country from his iPad has been circulating all over the internet…
And right on time… Apple has finally given a hard ship date for folks who missed the preorder deadline for it’s 36 version…. Friday, May 7.
