The Internet was buzzing yesterday with what appeared to be a link to a new version of the social networking service Facebook – codenamed Facebook Lite!!

Facebook said in a statement that Facebook lite is a fast-loading, simplified version of Facebook that enables people to make comments, accept Friend requests , write on people’s walls and look at photos and Status updates…

The official statement from the company is that “Facebook Lite is being tested in India and other countries where new users with slower net access are looking for a simpler experience.”

The tech blogs and news sites beg to differ… Many believe that Facebook Lite is a clear attempt to rival the Internet phenom Twitter…

Insiders say that Facebook Lite and Facebook’s latest acquisition of FriendFeed.com indicates that Facebook may be gearing up for a one on one fight with Twitter.

You’ll remember that Twitter rejected an offer from Facebook to purchase it last year. Facebook does take rejection too well. Just see how difficult it is to cancel your account.

FriendFeed.com is a California based sharing service that ties in together all the other social network sites. It’s been described as a rival Twitter in its ability to conduct real-time searches.

They say that all press is good press but this week BestBuy.com may have been getting a little more press than it wanted…

Early Wednesday morning the website listed a sixteen hundred dollar 52-inch Samsung HDTV for $9.99.

Customers jumped on the Web site trying to take advantage of the offer and some people even showed up at the stores…

Best Buy claims that the price was a mistake and that it will not be honoring the incorrect price.

A recorded message on Best Buy’s customer service line told customers that they “will not be placing any more orders for the unit” and messages were sent on Twitter apologizing “for any disappointment”

But These angry shoppers in the video clip below ain’t trying to hear dat!!!
