Troy Ave Talks Album Sales, Being An Independent Artist, Nickname And More
Brooklyn’s own Troy Ave made his return to The Breakfast Club today and had certain things on menu to address. Most notably, the recent lackluster numbers for his second album “Major Without A Deal.” Having released the project Friday June 5th, the first week sales numbers were just over 4K digitally and 30 physical units sold. Troy Ave clarifies the situation explaining that he released the project at the tail end of the week, instead of the usual Tuesday for new music, as well as mom & pop stores selling copies of the project earlier than anticipated. This of course with him moving as an independent artist, hence the album title. Having cleared that up, he also spoke on the nickname “Troy Average,” that was given to him on the Internet, brushing off his detractors as confidently as only he could. Check out the interview above.
