Tamar, Trina, Traci, and Towanda Braxton joined The Breakfast Club to discuss their hit reality show Braxton Family Values. They’re like the Kardashian’s but with talent.
Angela Yee asks Towanda about her situation. “It’s a mess,” Towanda says. “[My husband] thinks he’s a self publisher, that’s his job. But I’m just trying to get it together. I’m just a mess.” DJ Envy asked about her open relationship and what exactly it is. Towanda responds, “An open relationship for me, is when I don’t ask, and he don’t tell.”
Angela asks Trina about her husband using a tracking device on her. Trina says, “My husband put a phone tracker on my cell phone, where he could check all my text messages, and he put a gps system.” She talks about it being a chick move and explains the reason he did it by saying, “He has his own personal issues. He doesn’t trust himself, so therefore he doesn’t trust me.” They’re still together.
Tamar doesn’t like that Trina is with him and said the issue with her sisters is that everybody tells her to just shut up. Trina responds saying, “Everybody has their breaking point and for me, that was not my breaking point at the time. And if everybody got divorced or separated because somebody cheated, no one would be together.” Tamar points out that Trina’s husband cheated for 5 of the 7 years they’ve been together.
Envy asks Tamar about her music career. She said she signed a contract with her husband Vincent Herbert, “Who else?” Charlamagne asked about him being over protective of her career and if she ever thought of signing with anyone else. “Well it’s not that simple. He’s like one of the respected guys, one of the executives, that everybody pretty much respects.”
Angela asks Traci how she felt about Tamar doing a solo project when they were supposed to be doing a family album together. “At first I was kind’ve salty about it,” Traci says. Envy jokes that Tamar “pulled the Bobby Brown” on them. Tamar responds, “No I did not. Toni pulled the Bobby Brown, not me.”
They ask Traci about being called the wannabe on the show. “You know what, that’s their opinion” Traci says. Angela asked Tamar if she was going to put Traci on her album. “No. It’s no shade. That’s why if we were doing the Braxton album it would be different. It would be all of us collectively, but Toni decided she didn’t want to do it. But now I’m like Trina’s doing her record and Trina are you going to put Traci on the record? No, because were going to do a Braxton something.”
Angela brings us the topic of Towanda’s relationship. Towanda says, “Because of the recession, [my husband] hasn’t been able to get a job. I’m just being honest. And then it had to make sense. It’s not that he hasn’t gone on any interviews, it has to make sense. He has a degree. But people want to pay him 10 dollars an hour with a degree and that’s not going to work.” She said he’s good with the kids.
The ladies deny the rumors about Toni not wanting to do the show anymore. They ask Tamar about Toni firing her husband and finding out about it online. They also discuss what advice they would they give Traci on her career, how they keep it spicy in their sex lives, and the attention their personal lives are receiving since the show. Trina says she doing good and that she “still enjoy[s] a glass or two, or a bottle of wine, but in moderation.”
