Rihanna Scores 10th #1 Single

Rihanna’s “S&M” will hit number 1 tomorrow on Billboard’s Hot 100, giving the singer her 10th #1 single. She first topped the charts back in May 2006, with “SOS.” She also holds the crown among solo artists for the shortest amount of time between her first #1 and 10th #1 single (four years, 11 months, two weeks.)

She beat out Mariah Carey by about 5 months to get 10 #1 singles.  Additionally, she is the youngest artist to get 10 #1’s. Rihanna is the ninth artist to get at least 10 Hot 100 #1’s and the fifth solo female.  She follows Mariah Carey (18), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), & Janet Jackson (10).
