LITTLE BROTHER “CURTAIN CALL”
After taking some time off to pursue some of their own projects and collaborations the Durham duo of Phonte and Big Pooh return and haven’t lost a step. They get a Khrysis produced banger to lay down some bars. Let’s hope the title doesn’t mean it’s a wrap for this talented group. Also, a get well soon shout out to Pooh who was recently in a little auto accident.
LUDACRIS “PARTY NO MO” ft. GUCCI MANE
By now you all know Luda’s album is about to drop. Last week, I played a joint and brought up the fact that he’s not always included in people’s top 10 MC’s and so forth when he deserves to be in my mind. Instead of staying on my soapbox about the whole MC thing I’m just going to tell you that this “Party No Mo” record is a problem and you will hear it blasting out of systems and clubs very soon.
TOO SHORT “STILL BLOWIN”
He’s a legend, he’s an architect and godfather to this whole rap game and he’s still putting it down with this ode to the green stuff. It’s a 4/20 type of thing and Short still has his trademark style and sound even though the production has an up to date southern bouncy feel to it.
GLASSES MALONE “EASTSIDIN’ (CRIP GANG) FT. SNOOP DOGG
New offering from this West Side Rider with a lil assit from Uncle Snoop on the hook. Malone can spit but just hasn’t had that type of hit yet to breakthrough so more folks can get familiar with him. Perhaps this will help? We shall see…
FREDDIE GIBBS “SLAMMIN”
The biggest thing from Gary, Indiana since the Jackson 5 continues to make noise on the indie/underground front just as he appears on the cover of XXL Magazine as one of the Freshman 10. Enough mixtapes, let’s get an album ready!!! I’m sure he’s thinking the same thing so stay tuned..
