Mo’Nique Talks Compensation Equality, “Blackbird” & Being Cookie in Empire

One of the Queens of Comedy Mo’Nique stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about her new film, Blackbird, which comes out April 24, homosexuality being the apart of the issue of love, being offered the role as Cookie for hit television show Empire, winning an Academy Award and putting value into our awards. She says Martin Lawrence told her to never let them tell you what you can’t have, in his three-floor trailer during their time together on the set of “Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins”. In addition, Mo’Nique clears up the rumors about her not being offered the role to be Cookie on Empire and being difficult. During the interview, she reflects on homophobia in black communities and shares that homophobia exceeds beyond the black community. It is everywhere.
