|“We’ve matured as a site, we’ve grown up, so we can’t go in like we used” – Fred Mwangaguhunga
Fred Mwangaguhunga, owner and founder of MediaTakeOut.com, sat down with The Breakfast Club to discuss his controversial website. He talks about starting the site five years ago when we was out of work. At first, they covered everything from sports to entertainment, but found out that the most popular stories were urban news/gossip. Angela asked him if theres stories that he got and didn’t post on the site, he said…
|“We did have a video of a very very very very very prominent R&B singer. She was naked, she was doing all kinds of crazy stuff. If that would of came out, it would have been one of the biggest stories ever.”
Fred talks about why he didn’t put up the video saying their were goons involved. Envy asked him if he ever got threaten or beat up. He said because he doesnt cover a lot of hip hop stuff, it rarely happens. He talks about having good relationships with artists and having artists leak stories to them. He discusses where he gets the majority of his stories and says its usually from ex-an girlfriend or baby mother.
Charlamagne asked why they only post negative stuff but Fred said their just being honest and they love all the artists they talk about. He says that their not making a ton of money on the site and that they sacrifice money because they wont tame down for advertisers. He says that it’s all about growing the brand and that eventually it will pay off. He discusses the TV pilot their working on and who the most popular celebrity on the site is.
