Last night, WeTV held an intimate screening for their newest reality series with Mary Mary at TribeCa Grand in NYC. Yes, you read that correctly, the gospel duo have a new TV show that will air March 29th at 10pm, right after Braxton Family Values.
The first episode throws you into the sister’s world headfirst; you meet the husbands, their sisters mother, kids, manager and stylist. It’s exciting and refreshing to see the day-to-day activities for a major gospel duo who live just like you and me.
“It’s a challenge to go from one end to another but when I’m at home, I want to be Warren’s wife. I want to be Chris’ mommy, [I want to be] Wozie and Zaya’s mommy [and] that’s all I need to be in that house. Mary is fine, but that’s for work,” Erica explained during the press Q&A session after the screening.
“We don’t bring Mary Mary home, we play it in the car but we don’t bring it in the house. When I come home, I come home as Teddy’s girl [her husband],” Tina enthusiastically added.
When it comes to how they view others who are involved with reality TV now that they have their own show, Erica and Tina explained:
“We’ve got a whole new respect for everybody in this game. It’s hard work to be who you are with camera’s on. We are so accustomed to doing this as Mary Mary –to smile and answer all the questions. But, now I have to do this. [If] I’m having a bad day, [or if] my kids are getting on my nerves, [or] I don’t want to cook, I want to go on a date my husband, [we still have to tape the show no matter how we are feeling]…”
Honestly, the show is so down-to-earth that if you didn’t know Mary Mary were gospel artists before watching, you’d still get hooked because it gets that real.
