Kendrick Talks “To Pimp A Butterfly”, Depression, & Engagement
Kendrick Lamar paid a visit to The Breakfast Club to talk about his new album, getting engaged, being responsible as an artist and being strategic, the positivity of “i”, getting a hold of audio from an unreleased Tupac interview to use for his album, and Tupac’s influence.
Kendrick shared why the clean version of the album was released on iTunes, the inspiration behind the first single “i”, and how it was meant to serve as positivity for the people back in his city. He didn’t want to be typical. Lamar addresses the mixed albums reviews, and how he feels about his sophomore album. He says the songs on the album are therapeutic songs for him. In addition, he talked about being depressed and having to deal with the drastic changes. In addition, he talks about how Jay Rock have him his shot and his relationship with TDE.
