Iggy Azalea came by The Breakfast Club and opened up about signing with Grand Hustle, conflicting interests with her previous management and her life growing up in the land down under.
Linking with T.I.:
“He actually called my management up and said that he wanted to meet me and have a conversation. He was in L.A. I was supposed to go sign my deal with Interscope the next day. So my managers were like, ‘Hey, no harm can come from this, right?’ Wrong. So I went and he was like, ‘What do you think about waving the Grand Hustle flag?’ And I said, ‘Well, who the hell is on Grand Hustle anyway?”
Iggy says Tip started out as having an executive producer role but after recording with him for a month, she ended up signing to his label.
Interscope deal falling apart:
“They didn’t want Tip to be an ongoing part in my deal. They just wanted him to produce one album. And me and Tip were like, ‘No, it has to be in there so it’s the whole thing.’ They wanted to say, ‘That happened with Lady Gaga and [Akon]. I was like, ‘Bro, this is what I want.’ And they didn’t want to do that. And after that, it kinda deteriorated.”
Rumored relationship with A$AP Rocky:
“If I were in a relationship ever in life, you would never hear me talk about it. It’s not because of career. I just believe some things you have to keep to yourself. Relationships are one of them, a few other things. When you share stuff with the world… it does take something away from it sometimes. Something special. It gets kind of tainted and other peoples opinions… I will never want to talk about a relationship or certain other things.”
Azealia Banks beef:
“I can’t tell you why. Me, it takes a lot for me to have a problem with someone. And it has to usually be actually personal. For me to have a problem with someone I don’t know? I’ve met so many people that I’ve sit in the meeting room with and thought they’d be one way and they were the other. And I felt like I learned my lesson pretty early on, not to really form a complete opinion about somebody until I met them.”
