Curren$y Signs With Warner Bros. Records

Curren$y announced today that he signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records.  He’s currently working on his first project for the label, an EP produced entirely by The Alchemist called Covert Coup.  Spitta had previously been signed to Def Jam were released two albums. Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II were both released in 2010 with little promotion from the label.  Hopefully, Warner will do a better job.  Covert Coup is set to be released on 4/20.

BONUS: Curren$y was on The Morning After in November, along with Damon Dash & Ski Beatz, to promote his album Pilot Talk II.  The laid back spitta opened up to Angela about his past label expierences, touring issues, and his favorite past time… marijuana.

Curren$y talks about his partnership with Dame Dash and working with producer Ski Beatz. Angela gets some advice on smoking weed and asked if he had any bad experiences while smoking.  He replied “Nah, I never had a bad experience, I’ve smoked some crummy weed before though.”  (Ha! haven’t we all?)

Spitta talks about being signed to a couple different labels including No Limit and Cash Money.  He talks about hooking up with Lil’ Wayne in Miami and recording six records in one day.  He says “we did that shit for a minute, but then… I only want to do what I want to do, so I just had to dip and just be by myself, and just put out my tapes, and just hustle and be happy.”

“Everybody’s frustrated with me; venues don’t like to book me, everybody’s just fucking frustrated… I’m fun, I’m a good guy, I just want to rap, smoke a little pot; There’s no guns, no crack coming into the building… I’m just trying to have a good time but [venues] give me a hard time.”  He thinks Wiz Khalifa got set up when he was arrested in North Carolina and he talks about being extra careful when smoking on the tour bus.
