Black Excellence! ESSENCE Is Black-Owned Once Again
For over 47 years ESSENCE Magazine has proudly represented women of color in a positive light. Yesterday evening, it was announced that the Founder of Shea Moisture, Richelieu Dennis, acquired Essence from Time Inc. This means that ESSENCE is back to being 100% black owned.
Editor-in-cheif of ESSENCE Magazine, Vanessa De Luca released an official statement. “It is with great joy that we announced today, Jan. 3, 2018, that Essence Communications is under new ownership: Essence Ventures LLC, an independent African-American-owned company focused on merging content, community and commerce…”
