Last Saturday was the premier of 24/7: Manny Pacquiao Vs. Antonio Margarito on HBO.

Manny Pacquiao’s (51-3-2) last fight was in March against Joshua Clottey which he dominated.  The fight is Margarito’s first in the United States since he was suspended by the California State Athletic Commision in January 2009.  Antonio Margarito (38-6-0) was suspended for one year after it was discovered he had an illegal substance in his handwraps prior to his fight with Shane Mosley. The substance turned out to be similar to plaster of Paris, which is used to cast broken bones.

At the time, he was considered one of the best fighters in boxing after pounding Miguel Cotto in a WBA World Welterweight title fight in July 2008. Many people speculate and most boxing fans believe he had something in his handwraps then.  Margarito has denied ever knowing about his gloves but it has definitely tainted his legacy.

24/7 airs for three more episodes every Saturday at 10:30pm leading up to the fight. The fight takes place on November 13th at Dallas Stadium in Texas.
