Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson paid a visit to The Breakfast Club accompanied by famed entertainment attorney Ed Woods to discuss a brand new “Begin Again” initiative taking place on this Father’s day weekend at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brooklyn. The premise of the initiative is to clear old minuscule warrants from the records of New York City residents. Thompson goes on to explain that he will have a judge, prosecutors and those of that ilk present, in order to help residents. Under the law, a person who is issued a ticket for anything as minor as loud noise, spitting on a sidewalk, etc, but does not appear in court to rectify the ticket, will subsequently have a warrant issued. Currently, there are over 1 Million people in New York City with open warrants, most of whom may not even know it. This initiative is a preemptive measure to avoid having non-criminals be brought into the system. Check out the very informative interview above.
