Wale Talks ‘Ambition’, Interscope, MMG

Wale sat down with The Breakfast Club to discuss his sophomore album Ambition, getting dropped from Interscope, signing with Maybach Music Group, and his attitude toward women.

He discussing his new album saying, “It’s a defining moment in my career. I feel like, I can’t even put it into words because it hasn’t really all the way hit me yet, maybe after a week or two it will settle in. But to go through what I went through, and to just be here standing right now is a testament to what hard work will get you.”

Wale talks about his debut saying, “I would never say that I’m not happy or that I’m not proud of my first project. It’s just a lot of things that went into it.” He talks about a person from Interscope calling him and not knowing he was dropped. He said he was close to signing with Polo‘s imprint but didn’t want to work with Interscope at all. He said, “They didn’t think I could make records.”

He discusses signing with Rick Ross and MMG saying, “Honestly, there was a lot of options. It was like in ’06, I had one of the biggest buzz’ for an unsigned act, and it felt like that all over again. I could have went just about anywhere I wanted to go.” He talks about his beef with Charlamagne, relationship with Kid Cudi, twitter drama with Rosa Acosta, blackness, women, and more.
