Laura & Gloria Govan Talk Relationships with Gilbert Arenas, Matt Barnes
Laura and Gloria Govan joined The Breakfast Club while they were in New York for fashion week. They discuss their relationships with Gilbert Arenas and Matt Barnes, respectively, as well ad their hit show, Basketball Wives LA.
Laura and Gilbert have four kids together. “He is such a good dude,” she says. “10 years. We been through a lot. I respect him. I love him, first and foremost. and I actually like him. So it works.” Angela Yee asked her how they got back together after hearing various rumors, such us Gilbert supposedly walking out on her when she was pregnant with their child.
“Thats not how it happened,” Laura says. “Some things were true, some things weren’t. A lot of miscommunication, a lot of misunderstanding, a lot of anger at the time… It was 7 months we were separated. It actually brought us, the children brought us back together. It was funny, the first day we seen each other, it was like, we back in love again. It was weird. It’s a relationship. Everybody has ups and downs, yes of course. But ours is public. The fact that we’re sharing it, and its out there. We have to clean it up because a lot of its not true. But for the most part, it is.”
DJ Envy asked Laura about her fight with Malaysia Pargo. “It was about a hundred hits thrown, she got in one.” Laura says. “I ain’t gon lie. It was what it was, [VH1] showed what they showed. So I’ll just leave it at that. But I love her.”
Gloria said Matt Barnes and her are still engaged, but there not getting married anytime soon. When Angela pointed out that she wasn’t wearing a ring, Gloria said she doesn’t travel with it. Angela said it seems like they’re always breaking up and getting back together. Gloria responded that people get it twisted and try to stir things up between them. She discusses how she could be talking to a guy and people automatically assume she’s doing something with him.
Glo talks about Draya Michele saying, “When I first met her, I didnt really know who she was. I had heard, ‘she’s was a groupy. She’s a jumpoff. And then I flat out asked her, ‘What are you?’ And she owned up to it. I was like, ‘Ok, I respect that.’ But then I saw pictures. and people started telling me more and more. and then more people, and then more people. Then a couple more people came out. I was like, ‘oh jeez, good lord.'” They ask her is she would she trust Drea around Matt.
Angela asked her about the incident concerning Draya’s 8 year old son. Gloria said it was a “conspiracy because she was dating Chris Brown.” They talk about Basketball Wive Jackie Christie getting married every year and about Tanya Williams being a earful. “Cmon Confucius, your killing me,” Gloria says referring to Tanya. They also talk about Imani Showalter and what happened with her ex-fiancee Stephen Jackson.
