JB Smoove Curbs Your Enthusiasm
In honor of the blizzard taking place this weekend, we have this interview with comedian JB Smoove. He was in NY promoting his sold out shows at Comix (they even had to add an extra show) and took some time to tell us the hilarious and inspirational story of how he ended up with the role of Leon Black on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” after not getting renewed as a writer for SNL. Just when you’re at an all time low, canceling shows with a sheisty promoter, checking out of a bedbug infested motel, and driving through a snowstorm, your life can become the sh!t!!!
“But I got in there, they called me, there was a room full of people… I mean everyone you could think of was in that lobby…all kind of comics, actresses going in to play Vivica’s part, it’s crazy. So I walk into the room, they say ‘JB come in’, so I come in the room and I’m thinking it’s gonna be on tape. Larry is standing right in the middle of the room. ‘Alright JB you’re gonna improv with Larry’, I said ‘oh, ok’. Let me tell you what I did. I walked right up to Larry and almost touched noses with Larry. I said ‘alright Larry, let’s do it baby. We gonna improv, right Larry. I don’t know what the hell I’m gonna do to you, it’s improv, anything could happen. I might mess around and slap you in the face Larry, I don’t know’. I just walked away from him and he just started laughing his ass off…then we did 3 little scenes and every scene was hilarious.”
