In case you missed it this weekend, the Curly Girl Collective also known as the creators of Curlfest had another successful event at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. “The Curly Girl Collective is an experiential marketing group that specializes in multicultural beauty.” Over the years their events have found many ways for their network of fans to connect with top beauty brands, social influencers, and create the ultimate space for women of color to embrace their natural beauty.

One group of women that everyone was excited to meet and take pictures with was the sister duo, Venus and Lizzy also known as @bigahairgirls. Their vibrant hair could be spotted from miles away and their personality was just as bold. I had the opportunity to speak with these ladies and get their perspective on Curfest. Big Hair Girls have attended Curlfest for the past three years. It has grown immensely and they are even more excited for next year.

When asked what they consider their fashion statement piece they said “pretty much anything with spandex… we’re big comfort girls and we love pieces with stretch and ease.” They also mentioned that catsuits, belly chains, and fanny packs are their signature.

Of course, I had to get details on Big Hair Girls favorite hair products. Venus and Lizzy said that Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Coconut Curling Cream and Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel are their go to products at the moment.

For beauty influencer, Jasmine Rose this was her first time attending Curlfest. She was contacted by Iman Cosmetics to help them with their booth along with other makeup artists. Rose, stated “I didn’t know what to expect… but it gives me magical black girl vibes and I’m all here for it.”

In short, Curlfest was the go to spot on Saturday and definitely a success!
