Shaunie O’Neal Re-ups Basketball Wives and Casting for Football Wives
Shaunie O’Neal called in from Vegas this morning, where she’s vacationing while the kids visit their dad for Father’s Day. We discuss the reunion for Basketball Wives, which will be airing this Sunday. The new season will be an hour instead of half hour and there’s 12 episodes instead of 8.
She admits that Shaq did try to stop the show from airing initially after seeing the previews, but he’s cool with it now. Shaunie admits it was therapeutic to address some of her issues with Gloria’s sister on the show but it would have been “therapeutic a little bit more if I could have put my hands on her.” Thank goodness she was still a lady and maintained her composure.
Gloria was casted on the show before the affair with her sister and Shaq came out in the open, and Shaunie admits that she tried to get her off the show once she found out but the contracts were signed already. In addition, VH1 figured it would make good TV. Gloria won’t make it on to the next season though!

“I think he got his little 5 minutes of shine just being part of the show to be honest. From what I hear most people didn’t know his name before the show.”
When asked how much blame she places on her ex husband for cheating, she replies:
“I just knew that it was enough for me. I understand, it’s not a pass, but I understand how easy and how free and how just right there and available stuff is and how it is for a man to be a man or a human to be a human, and it’s definitely not a pass. I’m definitely not condoning anything but it is available and I guess it would be hard to say no, so I don’t necessarilty sit back and point a finger and blame, it’s just that that was enough for Shaunie.”
She denies ever having cheated, spending 85% of her time with her kids and when she wasn’t with them she was at the arena. Then Shaunie talks about her new show that she’s casting, “Football Wives,” and says that everyone wants to be a part of that show. The football players seem to be way more receptive than the NBA players were in participating.
