Shakur could be the Best You Never Had!

Lately on “The Morning After,” there’s been a lot of talk about the roles that men and women should play in a relationship. Not too long ago,
Ghostface let you know that men and women are not equal, and women should carry themselves differently, ie “For a lady or woman that’s supposed to have respect and not just let anybody slide into her temple like that.”

To fuel this debate even more, Shakur made a recent appearance on my show where we discussed her being contacted directly by Kanye for the “Best I Ever Had” video. We also got into her career as a hip-hop artist, and played her song “Nadda Hoe” featuring Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas. And then, interestingly enough, she reveals that she has never had a boyfriend, but believes that men should be treated like kings.

“I come from a very traditional background and I know it’s the 21st century and people might dispute and negate what I have to say about it, but I think that at the end of the day I think that real men should be treated like kings and it should be reciprocated back, and women should be respected as well. And I think the reason why the divorce rate is so high and relationships don’t work out is because women do not know how to play their role.”

OK, I can dig that. I have no problem cooking breakfast, dinner, doing laundry, etc. But I look at it like this: if I’m making dinner and cleaning, then you better be at least taking me out to dinner or bringing home some wine! However, as for Shakur’s next comment, I may not take heed (sorry girl!)

“How I grew up is that a woman doesn’t touch her food until every man in the house is fed and until he’s full. It might sound kinda off the wall but you gotta understand this is the background I came from so naturally I’m gonna keep on doing me. I’m traditional in that sense.”

Hey I’m not knocking her. But I ain’t grow up like that!
