DMX joined The Breakfast Club the day of his sold out show at SOBs and talked everything from his family, Def Jam days, drug issues, arrests, drivin record, beefs, relationships, hip hop, mistakes and life.
Ex-wife:
“We still like the best of friends, that’s never going to change, I’m grateful for that”.
Behind The Music:
“It was honest, and a lot of people are afraid of honesty. They’re afraid to show who they are. They think it makes em look weak or whatever. We all of flaws, anybody who tries to act like they don’t if full of shit”
Jay-Z/Def Jam:
“When he first got the job, he hit me with the call like, ‘Yo dawg, inmates is running the building.’ Like, ‘Yo, you good.’ [I] finished the album, shoot the video, what happened? Niggas go on vacation, ‘O o o we don’t know.’ Like fuck you mean you don’t know? Listen to a whole album, pick a single, shoot a video, then don’t know? Hmm ok, I see what’s really good, you trying to eliminate the competition. Because at first you retire, then get me off the label, now you back rapping again, ok.”
Driving:
“I got to many cars to not drive… Now when you say am I going to be able to drive again, do you mean legally or physically?Legally, probably not. I just have faith that one day it will work itself out. But in the mean time, I’m behind the wheel man, catch me if you can.”
Airport incident:
“Everything needs to be in perspective; What had happened was, I was rushing for a flight, and this dude in a raggedy ass Honda, he driving wild slow. Now usually if I’m in a rush and I’m in that truck, I’ll hit the lights and throw the siren or whatever, they get out the way. But he was just totally disrespecting my authority. Not that I really had the authority. I didn’t have the authority, but what if I really did have the authority? So then I [pulled up] and cut him off and I was like yo… I might have asked for his license. I don’t remember, I might have asked for his license”
“Anger gets the best of me sometimes. And when I get angry to a certain point, nothing else matters. And I really wanted to snatch him out of the car and snuff him like police really do, but I didn’t do it.”
Dissing:
“I’m not into the diss for nothing type of shit, I don’t do that. There has to be a reason, there has to be something that was done to me.”
Rappers:
Machine Gun Kelly: “I like him… We had a great vibe in the studio… Great energy… He’s better than 80% of the rappers out here.”
J. Cole: “J. Cole’s nice.”
Rick Ross: “I guess, I’m just not impressed, real talk. He’s aight man, he just talk about eating… like how much can this nigga eat? How much weed can you smoke son? Like aight. He got a Maybach, he got an Aston Martin, like ok, good for you. Damn. I see a whole nother side of the coin son.”
Drake: “I don’t like anything about Drake. I don’t like his fucking voice. I dont like what he talks about. I don’t like his face. I don’t like the way he walks, nothing. I don’t like his haircut.”
Arizona:
“I recorded my 4th album out there. I dont know, it’s just a beautiful place man. We came from the studio one day and we just pulled over on the highway, just watch the sunrise. Yo it was crazy. And you can carry guns. I went out there with eight felonies and I can carry a gun. Are you serious? What you mean why I go to Arizona.”
Social Networking:
“I don’t know how to use a computer at all, Twitter all that, I’m like nah son. I don’t want people to be that involved in my life, you know what I mean. I aint gon front, I did one, I tweated one thing, and I um, I forgot what it was but the was like, do it, do it, do it. I’m like alright. fuck it I did it, Didnt feel any differently, like alight, I’m done with this shit. I havent even looked at it any more. It’s too much Some nosy shit if you ask me, fuck outta here man.”
