Houston new jack Marcus Manchild brought out his H-Town bredren Slim Thug and Paul Wall when he opened up for 2 Chainz at SOB’s. Paul, Slim and Marcus stopped by The Breakfast Club the morning after to discuss their New York trip, supporting Marcus at the show, and Houston’s old and new rap scene.

Angela said a label guy wanted her to put in a good word because he wanted to sign Marcus Manchild. DJ Envy talks about being impressed with Marcus’ rapping and tries to explain that he doesn’t rap like southern rappers. “He more hip hop,” Slim says. “I think Marcus is more hip hop. He rap faster. We just, we talk about what we’re doing, we sipping syrup, we slow. We come up here and look at y’all and listen to y’all, like ya’ll weird too though.”

Charlamagne asks Paul why he decided to lose so much weight. “Man I was out of there,” Paul responds. “I was too big man. I was 300 some pound and it was like, it ain’t player being that big. I wanted to get my life together. When you’re 50 pounds over weight, it takes 10 years off your life. I got kids, I’m married. I ain’t tryna go anywhere.” He reveals that he had surgery to lose the weight and he’s been exercising and eating right. “I just changed my whole life around.”

Paul talks about him and Slim showing support for Marcus: “There was people who helped us out when we were coming up like Bun B, Pimp C, a lot of others. And we put ourselves in a position where that help can make a difference. And that’s something he did. It’s not like he needs our help, he made a name for himself, he’s been grinding it out without us. But he put himself in a position to where if we do help him, it will make a difference. So we just here showing that support, showing that unity. And we having fun up here, Texas trip to New York.”

Thugga talks about his new book How To Survive In The Recession, the decline of Houston’s scene nationally, his quick beef with Rick Ross, and where is Mike Jones?
