Tru-Life Offered A 10-Year Plea Deal

Tru-Life was offered a plea deal on Wednesday in which he would serve a 10-year sentence for charges od second-degree murder, gang assault, and assault.  His brother and him were arrested and charged for the June 2009 stabbing death of Christopher Guerrero.  A second man was also stabbed during the fight outside a Manhattan apartment building.  He’s been in jail since his arrest nearly two years ago.

The plea deal offered by Assistant District Attorney Linda Ford involved a 10-year sentence for the 34-year-old rapper and 12 years for his brother, Marcus Rosado. The deal would require them to waive the opportunity to appeal.

The alleged fight took place at at 330 East 26th St. on June 15, 2009. Investigators said the incident was an extension of a dispute outside Pacha nightclub, at 618 West 46th St., which occurred several hours earlier, around 4 a.m.

Robert Rosado’s (Tru-Life) lawyer, Alan Abramson, said he would discuss the plea deal with his client Wednesday afternoon. If the plea deal is not accepted, the brothers will go to trial on the first Monday in March.

The rapper appeared in court Wednesday with a crew cut and neatly-groomed beard, in a dark brown suit and tie. His wife was in the courtroom.

He was signed to Roc-La-Familia in 2005 but was dropped from the label before ever releasing an album.  His album was supposed to be executive produced by Jay-Z & Snoop Dogg.

Check out Tru-Life on Lip Service from February 5th, 2007.  He appeared on the show a couple weeks after he dropped his mixtape “Tru-York.”  He talks about his first record deal when he was younger with his group “Ghetto Inmates”, having DJ Green Lantern take him to meet Jay-Z and signing with Jay the same day.  He talks about first linking up with Snoop Dogg, his beef with Jimmy Jones & Dipset, his eight-year relationship with his girlfriend, taking shots at Lil Wayne, and a whole lot more shit after they get him drunk. “Wow” Definitely one of the most memorable nights on Lip Service.

Props to DJ Wonder for the audio.
